Keyboard Commando’s
Darwin, while I am not a follower of his theories one specific point comes to mind, the theory of Natual Selection. One must wonder how Natural Selection has not wiped out all the idiots that seem to run rampant in this world. There are SO MANY idiots that should be 6 feet under, purely based upon the number of idiots available. Why are there so many stupid people in this world? Why hasn’t Darwin’s theory kicked in yet? This could spiral into a combobulation of crazy that knows no bounds so I’ll just stop right here and proceed with the point of this post, Keyboard Commando’s.
I was playing poker at an online site called Pokerstars. Anyone that knows online poker will recognize the name. There are the “Big 3″ US Auto Manufacturers, the “Big 3″ oil firms, and the original “Big 3″ online poker sites. Pokerstars is one of them.
So I just finised a session and decided to waste some time because my wife was passed out on the couch after a tough day of watching movies and lounging. I opened up the Freeroll tab in the Pokerstars client to see what was available. Obviously I don’t want to spend money on tournaments since I am terrible at tournament play and they tend to take hours if you get into a big one. I found a Freeroll that only costs “Frequent Player Points”. I earned these “FPP’s” by playing and therefor decided that a 5FPP loss is acceptable for an hour of occupation. The tournament begins.
I am bored out of my mind as tournaments are 9 handed and everybody playing them want to sit and weigh every single decision like it is life and death. How people can sit there and play like that I have no idea. I typically play 6 player max games and they still move kinda slow sometimes. Anyway, I get AA and do my standard 3 big blind raise. One guy on the other side of the table shoves all in and the guy next to him snap calls him like it is his job. I obviously snap call and fist pump as I am about to get all my chips in the middle with the best of it, that’s pretty much all you can do on every hand.
The cards fall and I am victorious. The player that shoved over my pre flop raise had A7o (WAT?!?!) and the guy that snap called him had KK. The guy that had A7o made a comment about donkies at the table. O….M….G…. He didn’t just go there, but alas, he did. I proceeded to inform him that I was sure he wasn’t talking about me as I got the money in with the best hand. This is when the fun began.
The guy that had KK earlier? Yea, he decided to chime in. He called me the N word and told me to shut my big mouth. Now I am really confused as to why he is even talking at this point. The guy that started the conversation gave everyone at the table a chance to respond, I am the only one that did, so now why is this guy jumping in with his two random cents? Random being the keyword obviously as I wasn’t talking to him in the first place. So I proceed to tell him that he has his facts wrong, that I am in fact of the white persuasion. He told me I was acting like one and that if I hadn’t been, he wouldn’t have called me one. I asked for proof of said actions. At this point, I decided that I was going to have some fun, regardless of what he says to me. I look away from the chat for a split second and when my eyes gaze back, I see that he has called me a fag.
So now I’m literally laughing in my office, loud enough to wake up my wife. I ask this guy what his sources are cause he is gettin it all wrong. I’m not black and I’m not gay. I’d like to know who he is talking to that seems to have so much misinformation about me. To make a long story short he just calls me a chump, a fag, and the N word over and over again for the next 35 minutes. The entire time I’m quoting the dictionary, wikipedia, and anything else I can find on the internet to make him look like a toolbag. It’s working as I’m starting to get some lol’s from the other players.
Back to that Darwin theory I was talking about. Why does every single person on the internet feel like they can do and say anything they want behind their monitor? I know the city and state that his person lives in thanks to the Pokerstars client. I’m sure I could get more information if I were so inclined. The internet is so far from anonymous at this point. If you don’t realize this fact you are living in a dream world. But what makes people act this way? I’m not sure anyone has the answer to this question, but I am sure about one thing. I have a feeling Darwin will be visiting this person in short order. Being ignorant is an undesirable trait in the gene pool. By that definition, Natural Selection should have no issues taking care of business. Just remember, next time you are going to start running your mouth about someone that you have spent all of 45 seconds talking to online in a different state, Darwin is watching.
As a final thought, for anyone that wants to say that ignorance is not a heritable trait, keep on walking. Just because ignorance is not a gene, doesn’t mean that fathers and mothers don’t pass it along to their sons and daughters in each generation of the family.
